Ms. Zhang, a dynamic and enterprising career woman, welcomed her first daughter in 2009. With the relaxation of the two-child policy, Ms. Zhang and her husband decided to have another child. However, repeated attempts to conceive a child were unsuccessful, which made Ms. Zhang start to feel anxious and uneasy.

Key findings in medical diagnostics

On the advice of a friend, Ms. Zhang and her husband went to the local Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital for a checkup. After a series of comprehensive examinations, the doctors found that Ms. Zhang's C-section scar had healed poorly and formed a diverticulum, while the endometrium had multiple polyps. These problems may have been the main cause of her irregular periods and difficulties in getting pregnant.

Hysteroscopy was disappointing

To get a clearer picture of the condition inside the uterus, the doctor recommended Ms. Zhang to undergo a hysteroscopy. This type of examination can help the doctor assess the severity of the endometrium and scarred diverticula and deal with any abnormalities. The results of the examination showed that Ms. Cheung's endometrium was in poor condition and the diverticulum was large, requiring surgical treatment. In addition, Ms. Zhang's Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) level was only 0.33, indicating that her fertility may be limited.
